- Compared with aluminium‑tube OPGW designs, thin‑walled stainless‑steel‑tube OPGW delivers superior side‑pressure and impact resistance. Featuring low electrical conductivity, high mechanical strength and outstanding corrosion resistance, the stainless‑steel tube provides robust protection for internal optical fibres.
- High‑strength, low‑conductivity aluminium‑clad steel wires bear the cable's self‑weight and external mechanical loads. Leveraging the skin‑effect principle, fault‑current and overload‑current are diverted through outer high‑conductivity conductors, which effectively protects optical fibres.
- Grease filling inside the stainless‑steel tube blocks ingress of moisture and water. Tunable excess‑fiber‑length enables excellent thermal performance of the cable.
- Available in extra‑large cross‑section and ultra‑high‑strength variants for 1000kV AC and ±800kV DC UHV transmission lines. Ultra‑low‑loss fibres (≤0.17dB/km) can be adopted to support ultra‑long‑distance signal transmission.
- With mechanical and electrical properties comparable to conventional overhead earth‑wires, OPGW simplifies replacement of existing legacy ground‑wires as well as design & installation for new‑build lines. It performs dual functions: overhead ground‑wire plus optical‑communication link.
- Precisely‑controlled excess‑fiber‑length guarantees reliable performance under heavy mechanical loads and long‑span deployment scenarios.
